Freedom 88.1 Fm in collaboration with the Richard Novati Catholic Hospital (formerly, Comboni Hospital) and the District Hospital, Sogakope, is appealing to the general public to help them procure Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) for their health workers amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
An estimated cost of Ghc 38,500 will be needed from donors to buy the following:
- 1000 pieces of N95 nose cover – Ghc 10,000
- 50 pieces of cover all – Ghc 5,000
- 200 pieces of head cover – Ghc 1,000
- 100 pieces of ribbon apron – Ghc 1,500
- 40 pieces of goggles – Ghc 800
- 100 boxes of face mask – Ghc 20,000
Speaking about the initiative, Pastor Samuel Avakame, marketing manager for the radio station said, “the health workers at these hospitals are exposed to a lot of dangers, hence the need for protection.”
“We are appealing to corporate bodies, businesses, entrepreneurs, and individuals to support this initiative to acquire PPEs for the two major Hospitals in South Tongu,” he added.
Present at the launch of this initiative were Mr. Adolph Bansah, Administrator for the Richard Novati Catholic hospital, and Pastor Jonathan Awuku, Medical Rep at the District Hospital, Sogakope.
They’ve asked all to send their fund through 650049, an MTN money merchant number with account name ‘South Tongu COVID-19 Support.’
