Rev. Mac William Donald Hoggar is yet to concede defeat in this year’s parliamentary election.
The parliamentary candidate for South Tongu on the ticket of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM) has expressed dissatisfaction in the South Tongu parliamentary results where he polled 357 votes out of a total of 49,269 votes cast.
He blames the Electoral Commission for this result saying that voters couldn’t recognize his party’s logo on the ballot paper.
According to him, he was notified by his polling agent during the time of voting.
“My polling agent called to inform me that the party’s logo has been wrongly designed on the ballot paper… The thing is, some voters can identify with the party’s logo while others can identify my picture… I had lost votes from those that can identify with the logo,’ he said during a phone interview on Freedom FM on Tuesday, 8th December 2020.
He added that he feels cheated and that he will take the matter to court.
“I will go to court… There’s too much corruption in Ghana… I won’t let this go, I’ll take the matter to court.”
Rev. William Hoggar lost to the incumbent Member of Parliament for South Tongu, Hon. Kobena Mensah Woyome. He polled 38,600 votes out of the total votes cast.
