Fears of coronavirus increase in Sogakope as DCE allows market women again

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for South Tongu, Hon. Emmanuel Luis Agamah continues to allow market women to sell in Sogakope.

Although he announced a two-week closure of the Sogakope market, sellers are still meeting.

Speaking on this new development, the DCE insists that we think about the sellers, how they will fend for themselves and their families.

Meanwhile, the Honorable DCE on Freedom 88.1 Fm said he will not allow market women to sell after 13th April 2020, the day he initiated the temporal closure of the Sogakope market. But that is not the case.

This morning, a Facebook Live on Soga WeDey showed market women preparing themselves to sell at a new ground. [Watch]

This was allowed by the Honorable DCE on the terms that they will observe social distancing.

However, another Live video on the same platform showed a packed environment. [Watch]

Defending videos and photos taken like this, the Honorable DCE says they were taken at a close range. Is Sogakope really serious about the widespread COVID-19?
