The management and staff of the Ghana Agricultural Sector Investment Programme (GASIP) under the Ministry of Food and Agriculture on Saturday, 25th April 2020, presented 1,400 pieces of disposable face masks to the Sogakope District Hospital and the Richard Novati Catholic Hospital (RNCH) in Sogakope, Volta region.
The donations formed part of efforts being made by GASIP to support and protect the Country’s frontline health workers in this era of the coronavirus pandemic.
The 28 boxes of face masks, each containing 50 pieces, were donated by the National Coordinator of GASIP Mr. Klutse Kudomor at a brief ceremony in Sogakope.
According to him, GASIP recognizes the effects of COVID-19 on a small-holder farmer, hence the need to ensure that the safety of the health workers is assured in the course of their duties to all and sundry including the farmers.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for South Tongu and the District Public Health Preparedness Management Committee chairman on COVID-19 Hon.
Emmanuel Luis Agamah took deliveries of the face masks.
He was grateful to GASIP for the gesture while urging other benevolent institutions also to send in donations.
A rotation midwife at the Sogakope District Hospital Miss Elizabeth Mensah received the items from the DCE on behalf of the District Health Directorate and the two beneficiary hospitals.
Mr. Kudomor also used the platform to address concerns about food security. Watch the video below:
