Legon Cities FC grabbed their first win of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season after defeating the West African Football Academy 1-0 on Friday, 8th January 2021 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
A foul on Mathew Anim Cudjoe in the 18-yard box gave Joseph Adjei the chance to score from the spot-kick three minutes into the second half.
At full time, Legon Cities FC clinched a narrow lead over WAFA on matchday 8 of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League.
In a post-match interview, the manager of the club Bashir Hayford says their first victory will be a ‘big booster’ going forward.
“This will be a big booster for us going forward. Naturally, when you win games it motivates you to win the next, so I am confident that we will build on this victory.”
The West African Football Academy has now lost three matches in the competition.
