The president of the Republic of Ghana H.E Nana Akufo-Addo says it is impossible to put the Voters’ registration exercise on hold or schedule it for a later date.
In his address to the nation on Monday, 29th June 2020, he supported this statement with two main reasons.
First, he said there’s no provision in the constitution to extend the mandate of a president who wields executive power beyond four years.
Second, he said Ghana can organize a successful election during the coronavirus pandemic as is the case in other countries.
In a minster’s press briefing today, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service Dr. Patrick Kuma Aboagye said Ghanaians should focus on observing the safety precautions against coronavirus instead of asking about the voters’ registration exercise.
The exercise began on Tuesday, 30th June 2020.
