Winner of Miss Tortsogbe 2019, Miss Rita Azaglo, as part of her project for the cultural event, is partnering with Prestige Events & Tourism and Wonder Care Foundation to organize a free Hepatitis B screening in Sokpoe, a small town near Sogakope, Volta Region.
This is part of the awareness that up to 1 million people die yearly from Hepatitis B, despite the fact that it is preventable and treatable.
On Thursday, 23rd January 2020, organizers, medical staff, and others in charge of the program will move from D/A Basic B to D/A JHS A and finally settle at the Cem park in Sokpoe.
They will screen, educate and vaccinate participants against the Hepatitis B virus. The vaccination will cost 20ghc, while the screening and education will be made free for all.
With Hepatitis B being transmitted through blood and infected bodily fluids, they call on seamstresses, hairdressers, footballers, and everyone to partake in this exercise at 9:30 am.
