Sogakope Assemblyman’s Killing: Suspect says it is not a contract killing

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department COP Mr. Ken Yeboah in a press briefing today, Monday, 4th May 2020, gave an update on the progress of some criminal cases of public interest under investigation.

One of such case is the murder of the Assemblyman for Sogakope South electoral area, Hon. Mr. Marcus Mawutor Adzhali.

According to COP Mr. Ken Yeboah, one suspect Amos Agaklah has provided vital information on the killing, which occurred on 1st March 2020.

He said, “Amos confessed that he together with one person on the run shot the deceased after the deceased put up resistance, which made Ajei stabbed him”

COP Mr. Ken Yeboah quoted Amos as saying, “the murder was a result of resistance by the deceased during the attack and that it was not a contract killing.”

The Director-General assured the public that efforts are being made to arrest two others who are on the run.

In an earlier press release dated 23rd April 2020, the Ghana Police Service said the five suspects linked to the killing have been remanded by the Dabala District Court to reappear in court on 26th May 2020.

According to that press release, one Vincent Ajei is believed to be the ring leader in the murder of the Honorable Assemblyman.
