An abandoned bungalow for nurses at the Sogakope District Hospital which has been converted into a COVID-19 treatment center was on Friday, 26th February 2021, commissioned by the South Tongu District Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Louis Agama.

This was a call by the hospital administration to convert the abandoned project into a COVID-19 treatment center.

The project according to the DCE was started in 2004 by former president John Agyekum Kufuor and abandoned by previous governments.

“I commissioned a HIPC project today, nurses quarters started by Ex Prez Kufour in 2004 at the District Hospital and abandoned by the previous government. The facility has been converted to a treatment center of COVID-19 patients in the South-Tongu District,” he said in a Facebook post after the commission.

The facility can accommodate 16 COVID-19 patients.

Earlier this year, the DCE also commissioned a 6-unit classroom block for the Sogakope D/A Primary School ’C’.
