South Tongu NDC: MP, constituency executives reacts to letter by constituency chairman

Member of Parliament for South Tongu, Hon. Kobena Mensah Woyome has recently reacted to a letter signed by Henry Johnson Ampah, the South Tongu Constituency chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He on Friday, 2nd April 2021, sent a delegation to Madam Cecilia Agbanyo, the Women’s organizer for the Todzokope branch of the Dzetorkoe electoral area in South Tongu, who according to this letter is suffering from a swollen leg.

The details of her health and financial status were only made known to the Member of Parliament and his delegates made up of some constituency executives following the letter.

This raised many questions at their meeting on Friday.

The communications officer Mr. Gati Michael asked if the letter was even true.

He also rebuked the Todzokope branch chairman Mr. Ayitey, who received them, for not doing his job.

“There are procedures in the party. When someone is sick, we don’t need a letter requesting financial support immediately.”

Gladys Abayah, the constituency women’s organizer revealed that she was at a meeting with the regional chairman when this letter was shown to her.

Mr. Ayitey apologized for how things transpired and urged the constituency executives to put this behind them.

“I apologize on behalf of the women’s branch organizer for not making the effort to contact the right people when she felt sick. She did not even contact me. I found out on one of my visits to her. I apologize on behalf of those who were supposed to pass the information to the MP, and/or the constituency executives. Let’s put this behind us.”

He also revealed that another group of party executives led by the constituency chairman Henry Ampah would visit them the next day.

The delegates after some minutes of talk went to see Madam Cecilia Agbanyo, who is bedridden for more than a month.

They presented her with some food items and cash.
