Geralt’s last words in Season 2 episode 8 could give a clue into what we should expect in the 3rd season of this 2019 Netflix Original Series ‘The Witcher’.
According to him, he doesn’t know how Nilfgaard knows about Ciri’s powers. He was able to figure out everything except this.
Yennefer, on the other hand, now has a new task of teaching Ciri how to control her powers. After all, she is of some use anyway.
In season 3 of The Witcher, I suspect Yen would do more to gain Geralt’s trust, even though she gave her life to save Geralt’s child surprise, Cirilla. The one thing Geralt can trust her with, for now, is controlling Ciri’s powers. According to him, no one except Yen was able to help her in that regard.
Now that she has regained her powers, Yen would have to do more than just recite magical words. With her powers back, she can now teach Ciri with her own magic.
Initially, she didn’t know what Ciri carried until she was close to delivering her to an old witch, Voleth Meir. During that time, she realized how powerful Ciri was and why this witch wanted her.
Ciri, by then had figured out what she wanted and immediately screamed to abort the mission to Cintra. By that time, the witch who had been trapped for many years, already had what she needed to escape her cell and find her way to Cirilla.
It was too late, but Geralt wouldn’t give up on her, even if it meant losing a thousand witchers. He’s become so engulfed with protecting the girl at all costs.
Ciri is truly an asset. In Season 3, we may see why. Already, the elves believe she is their hope. No wonder, Nilfgaard soldiers and others have been coming after her.
In the coming season (s), we are likely to see a lot of fights over Ciri – the Nilfgaards trying to kill her and the elves trying to protect her with Geralt struggling to trust even those who seek to protect her.
Production on Season 3 of the Witcher began on 31st March 2022 and has come to an end after close to 5 months.
Fans can’t wait for the next season.
