For people with type 2 diabetes, it is important to always manage their blood sugar levels. Diet plays an important role in keeping their glucose at the right amounts in the body to avoid health problems and complications.
Studies found that diabetics can find a certain fruit easily in the market that could help them manage their condition. The health benefits of guava have been found effective to prevent sudden increase in blood sugar in people. Research also found there is a specific time when people can take more of the fruit’s positive effects. Eating guava for breakfast allows the body to absorb more of its nutrients.
In studies with animals and humans, regular consumption of guava or its extract appeared effective in improving blood sugar levels and in providing long-term blood sugar control and insulin resistance, Daily Express reported Monday.

One study with 19 people also found that guava leaf tea could reduce blood sugar levels after a meal. The health benefits of tea lasted for two hours.
A different team of researchers that analyzed the effects of guava leaf tea in 20 people with type 2 diabetes said the fruit helped lower blood sugar of participants by more than 10 percent. The fruit also offers benefits to people trying to lose weight.
Guavas is a good source of fiber and contains only 37 calories. Being overweight or obese has been linked to higher risk of type 2 diabetes.

National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom said a combination of healthy diet with fruits and weight loss could improve the conditions of people with diabetes. Being physically active could also boost the benefits.
“Physical exercise helps lower your blood sugar level. You should aim for 2.5 hours of activity a week,” NHS said. “You can be active anywhere as long as what you’re going gets you out of breath. This could be fast walking, climbing stairs, and doing more strenuous housework or gardening.”
Type 2 diabetes is known for sudden changes in the amount of blood sugar in the blood of patients. The condition prevents the body from responding to insulin properly.
When high blood sugar is left untreated, diabetes could increase the risk of kidney failure, nerve damage, heart disease and stroke.
